Exits only from the plan
No selling except a stop, a written trim, or the written trail. A discretionary sell is allowed only if it's logged the same day as a named exception.
No sell except a stop, a written trim, or the written trail. A discretionary sell is allowed only if logged the same day as a named exception.
Why
Most early exits are fear wearing a disguise. If the plan says trim then trail, dumping the whole position at the first partial throws away the trades that pay for all the losers.
What breaking it looks like
- Exit off plan: selling where no stop, trim, or trail said to.
- Full exit at partial: closing everything where the plan said trim and hold the rest.
Times this rule was broken: 0
Logged in each trade's review. Counted, not hidden.
Not broken yet on a reviewed trade.
Related
- Partial profits and the break-even stopSell part of the position into strength, then move the stop on the rest to entry. The trade can no longer become a real loser, and the remainder gets room to run.
- Trailing stop: the daily close below the 8 EMAAfter the first trims, the remainder rides until the stock closes a day below its 8 EMA. It's a rule that lets winners run without guessing the top.
